Volunteering has always been a core value that is supported and encouraged. Our unique approach in involving people from the local community to become mentors enables them to positively impact their own community. Enthusiasm are committed to providing genuine care, including giving young people a place to find identity, security and belonging.
Many volunteers have come from within the communities that we work. Volunteering has proven to be a source for future staff workers but is also a crucial tool in the development of the future life skills of the young people who volunteer with us. We recognise that what they bring to the organisation is equally as valuable as any member of staff. We therefore aim to support volunteers with their development in the same way as paid staff.
User involvement is crucial in order for us to get the commitment from young people that we require. Their views must inform all aspects of our service delivery so we currently try to ensure that user involvement is at the heart of all of our programmes and services.
This is based upon "Bringing Young People through the system." Young people are developed (personally and socially) starting from being participants on our programmes and slowly progressing through onto becoming frontline workers. This is a structured progression route that starts with youth engagement, volunteering, work shadowing, and engaging in learning which then leads to the Youth Academy with the aim to progress onto employment and training in the field of youth work.
