The key

THE KEY is a learning programme designed to provide additional education to identified young people in order to compliment current provision as well as addressing specific issues identified on referral and through induction and assessment.

The Key is designed to be a:

  • Flexible and response range of additional education
  • Customised programme for 11-19 year olds aimed at targeting individual and groups of young people who are in need of that "additional" support and assistance in education.
  • Programme that will encompass a wide range of development activities that embed learning such as independent living skills, team building, confidence building, choices and consequences.

The programme is designed to confront, challenge, support and direct young people to become successful learners through a combination of engagement & educational activities.

Through this we aim to:

  • Work alongside schools in designing and delivering a flexible learning programme, suitable to the needs of the individual learners, facilitating innovative and learner centred practice.
  • Improve retention and progression rates by recognising smaller steps and achievements more frequently.
  • Facilitate learners to manage and build up achievements (credits) at an agreed individual pace and in a range of learning contexts.
